BIOGRAPHY

Matthew William Bishop is an actor, bodybuilder and advocate based in Miami. In September 2021, Matthew turned his daydream into a reality when — to the shock of his family and friends — he departed the safety of his successful corporate public relations career to immerse himself into an entirely new world of acting. Luck met an opportunity when Ryan Murphy cast him as Big Daddy in the hit series American Horror Story: New York City, which premiered on October 19th, 2022 on FX and streamed on Hulu.

Off the success of AHS:NYC, Matthew has immersed himself in classes and training to develop the skills and techniques to become a leading actor. He studies with Lesly Kahn at Lesly Kahn & Co. in Los Angeles and has attended the Stunt Performer's Academy 3-week certification course so that he can perform his own stunts.

Before acting, Matthew worked in corporate public relations for ten years, most recently as Vice President at Edelman in their New York office. He is also a competitive bodybuilder (most recently taking 1st Place at the 2023 Miami Muscle Beach Contest in the NPC Open Super Heavyweight Category), is 10 years sober and passionate about giving back to the recovery community and supporting non-profits like Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, SAVE LGBT and The Ali Forney Center. Matthew has a French Bulldog, Milo, and lives full-time in Miami.
